Types of Kitchen Sink

A SINK : also known by other names including sinker, washbowl, hand basin, and washbasin - is a bowl shaped plumbing fixture used for washing hands, dishwashing, and other purposes. Sinks have taps that supply hot and cold water and may include a spray feature to be used for faster rinsing.

CLASSIFICATION OF SINKS
#ON MOUNT BASIS

01. TOP MOUNT SINK
These sinks are mounted on the top of the surface of kitchen platform.

02. UNDER MOUNT SINK
These sinks are mounted under the surface of kitchen platform.

03. WALL MOUNT SINK
These sinks are mounted on the wall of kitchen and supported by stand or by kitchen platform.

#ON MANUFACTURING BASIS

01. HANDMADE SINK
Handmade Sinks are made by laser welding and are manually built with markings.

02. PRESSMADE SINK
Press made Sinks are made by pressing the steel sheet in mould, which is easy.

#ON BOWL BASIS

01. SINGLE BOWL SINK

02. DOUBLE BOWL SINK

03. TRIPLE BOWL SINK

Triple bowl without drainboard                             Triple bowl with drainboard

Generally triple bowl sinks are not used in houses. The 3-sink method is a system for washing, rinsing, and sanitizing dishes approved by most of the health departments. The first sink is where the dishes are washed, the second is where they are rinsed, and the third is where they are sanitized.

#ON MATERIAL BASIS

Sinks are made from a wide variety of materials with stainless steel being the most common and popular. Some of the materials are listed below:
  • Stainless Steel
  • Copper
  • Cast Iron
  • Granite
  • Porcelain
  • Acrylic
Sinks are also classified on the basis of there placements and features. Some of them are discussed below:

01. CORNER SINK

Corner Sink without drainboard                                 Corner Sink with drainboard

The two basins are set apart from each other at right angles. This is relatively a unique concept of design that can be useful if anyone wants to maximize his/her counter space. Corner sinks can be expensive and difficult to install. Custom cuts in the counter may add to the total cost of the installing in this type of sink.

02. LOW DIVIDER SINK

Low Divider Kitchen Sink is a double basin sink, but instead of the divider rising to the level of the top of the sink, it stops partway up. A perfect combination of single basin and double basin sinks. When you fill one side low with water, it can be used as a double basin sink. But if you want to use it as a single basin simply end up filling the sink fully and easily use the sink for washing big utensils.

03. FARMHOUSE OR APRON SINK

This sink comes with a deep bowl and board or apron, which is an extension in the front. To install the sink, it may require some sort of modification of the cabinets. The front face of the cabinet that comes under the sink will be shorter and smaller than the other cabinets adjacent to it to provide space for the apron. Apron sinks also known as farmhouse sinks, have large, deep bowls.

04. PREPERATION OR BAR SINK

Prep sinks, also known as Bar sinks, play second fiddle to the main sink in the kitchen and it is installed specially for performing small tasks like rinsing fruits and vegetables and washing hands. It can be used in bars also. However, in small sized sinks, prep/bar sinks can serve all the purpose without the need of another big sink.

05. ISLAND KITCHEN SINK

Kitchen islands are becoming more and more popular these days and with that, so are kitchen island sinks. These sinks can be used as a primary or prep sink, depending on the needs of the user. Kitchen islands sinks are a great way to compliment your workflow and save your space on the main counter. These can also turn the kitchen island completely into a working space.

Being Universal: Industrial Paradox

Septic Tanks

SEPTIC TANKS WHY DO WE NEED A SEPTIC TANK? Septic Systems are underground wastewater treatment structures, commonly used in rural areas without centralized sewer system. We need these tanks to manage the daily waste that produced from our house. They use a combination of nature and proven technology to treat wastewater from household produced by bathrooms, kitchen drains and laundry etc.  SO WHAT WILL BE THE DEFINITION OF SUCH TANK? A septic tank is an underground chamber made of concrete, fiberglass, or plastic through which domestic wastewater flows for basic treatment. Settling and *anaerobic processes reduce solids and organics, but the treatment efficiency is only moderate. Septic tank systems are a type of simple onsite sewage facility. (* There are septic tanks which works on aerobic process) Basically its job is to differentiate the solid organic matter and the other floatable matter and liquid. Also it holds the waste water long enough to allow the above segregation take place
