Types of Washbasins

SINK : also known by other names including sinker, washbowl, hand basin, and washbasin - is a bowl shaped plumbing fixture used for washing hands, dishwashing, and other purposes. Sinks have taps that supply hot and cold water and may include a spray feature to be used for faster rinsing.

TYPES OF WASHBASIN

~ FULL PADESTAL BASIN

These basins are very popular and widely used across the country. The basin is attached to the wall and the pedestal is only there to hide the pipework. As they are very popular you will have a great selection of different designs and color to choose from. 

~ HALF OR SEMI PEDESTAL BASIN

Another basin type, the semi pedestal basin attach to the wall with a pedestal to hide the plumbing. As this basin is wall hung the space at the bottom is free thus give of illusion of extra space so are great for smaller bathrooms or in shortage of space.

~ ONE PIECE BASIN

One piece basins are used widely and becoming popular these days. The basin and the pedestal both are in one piece. No joints can be seen in these type of basins. You will have a great selection of designs and color and shapes to choose from.

~ TABLE TOP BASIN

Also known as countertop basins. This type is often the choice of the contemporary or minimalist bathroom design. It usually sits on the top on the shelf or counter and is paired with a tall basin (swan type) tap. They are available in all sorts of stunning shapes, sizes, finishes, and designs.

~ WASHSTAND BASIN

Washstand basin are a good way to create the illusion of extra space in the bathroom. With a frame which can be used as to hang towel, they help us create an elegant, minimalist bathroom. As the plumbing is exposed in this type, it will be better to purchase a bottle trap.

~ SEMI RECESSED BASIN

Semi recessed basin area an ideal choice for those who want a basin that blends seamlessly with a shelf or countertop. A semi-recessed basin is either built entirely into a counter top or placed into a space that has been cut in out of a countertop.

~ INSET BASIN

Inset basins fit into a hole cut in to a countertop. They may sit flush with counter, in which case they are known as undermount basins and provide a minimalist look. You can find self riming basins, which have a raised lip that rests on the counter top. These are easy to install and elevated rim helps in preventing spills to a minimum and protect the counter finish.

~ WALL HUNG BASIN

Wall Hung basins are fantastic space saving solution for the smaller toilets or bathrooms. Usually consisting of a tap hole and a waste pipe or a bottle trap, the wall hung basin is a perfect choice if there is a bit short of space.

~ CORNER BASIN

The corner basin has been designed to fit into a right angle corner. They are ideal for cloakroom or powder room where the only available space is corner. The corner basin is a practical and affordable solution for this type of situation.
